This page is for recording which Wikisocion pages have been restored since February 26, 2010.

History

On February 21, 2010 the Wikisocion.org database became corrupted. Backups had been made over the 2.5 years that Wikisocion operated, however, all but the first backup turned out to be incomplete for reasons having to do with the hoster, Siteground. Siteground made automatic backups as well, but only of a limited size. In other words, we are limited to the first backup copy that was made 2 months into the wiki's operation. All other content must be restored by using Google cache. The first few months of the wiki's operation were the most productive in terms of writing quality content, so the loss is not as disastrous as it could have been. Now, we are in the process of switching to a more competent and reliable hoster. Also, we have a system for ensuring that the database is properly backed up on a continual basis. A backup is now generated on a daily basis.

Your help is needed!

Please help with this project. Find cached versions of articles, translations, and user pages and update the articles here on Wikisocion by pasting in text. You will need to register first. We encourage, but do not require, users to register under their real names.

It makes sense to focus on the really critical content first. Look for type descriptions that were empty in 2007 but full in 2010, for instance.

Process

Go to Google and enter "site:wikisocion.org" to search only for Wikisocion pages. Add other search words as necessary. Open the cached versions of the articles and paste text into existing articles or create new ones as needed. Once a page is restored, enter the title in the following list in alphabetical order and sign your name. If there are questions or ideas, please write on the discussion page.

Some pages are not available through Google cache and are effectively lost. However, this automatic archive of Wikisocion from 2008 can be used to retrieve at least some of the content.

More cached pages are available on Bing

Missing Images

All images still exists, but references are missing from the database. To get them to display properly, please download the missing picture to your own computer and upload it to the wiki using the file upload feature. Finally adapt the article to point to the proper image.

Google Cache Sources

At time of writing, it looks like www.google.nl contains more cached pages than www.google.com. If you can't find a page in the google.com cache, try [1]. At first it might take you to google.com, but you can still get to google.nl by clicking "Go To Google Nederland".

A new 16types.info user named Akcelik made available a backup he made in April 2008. I have uploaded these files here.

User Pages

Do searches such as "site:wikisocion.org User X" to help find cached pages of User X.
